    I am running a 4.2 right now and I want to update to a 4.5 so how do I do it? Also can I do it straight from my blackberry?

    No, you can put any GSM carriers OS on your BB as long the OS matches your model.

    Example - If you have a VZW 8330 you can Alltel's 8330 OS on your VZW 8330.
    GSM to GSM or CDMA to CDMA and model to model.

    And you have to delete the vendor.xml file.
