I try to take video and get a window that says I must insert a formatted media card...being somewhat computer illiterate I have no idea what I need to do or where I need to go to get it...help please and thanks!

Wrong forum buddy llol, but to answer your question. Go to your camera like your taking a regular picture. Hit the menu key and go to "capture video" or something lke that, and voila

You need the extra memory card to take video's. the phone knows you don't have one. Video takes up a LOT of space and will not fit in the phones internal memory.
the card fits in the back under the battery in the slot available for it. cards are available from 2G to 32G (depending on your OS)

Yeah, you need to get a MicroSD card and install it in the device.
