You statement sounds like two different things all together. Adding applications to the device is one thing. The error message you list has to do with syncing the calendar/contacts of the device. If you are trying to add an app you have downloaded, unzip it, then use the app loader to load the ALX file. If you downloaded a JAD or JAR file, those are meant to be installed Over The Air using the BB Browser. If you get an error about no additional software for you device, read the link below.
