I've never dealt with the 83xx but have upgraded my Pearl several times no problems. My friend has an 8310 and her file free is only 7 digits long while my pearl's is 8. I plan on doing a firmware update as she's still running 4.2. Is that the problem? Was 4.2 notorious for eating memory? I even did a battery pull to no avail. She's not running anything in the background. She *does* have 3rd party programs. Oregon Trail, monopoly here and now, sally's salon, couple others. Nothing that really caught my eye as potential memory threat. Any other suggestions besides firmware upgrade?

4.2 isn't the issue. When I ran it I always started at around 30mb
with a lot of third party apps (20 - 25).

You should look at the CrackMem program in my sig to help
her clear out a lot of the unneeded stuff that comes with the OS

I'll do that AG. Any thoughts as to why she would have such low mem? Even after a batt pull?
