I am getting ready to update my os to the 4.5.0.99 upgrade, but I do not know which Desktop Manager version I should down load. Is it the 4.6 or 4.7?

Thank you for responding. On the Blackberry website there are several Desktop Manager versions. Am I choosing the 4.6 B16 english or multilanguage? I know these are stupid questions, but I want to be sure before I upgrade or screw up my Curve.

Unless you dont speak english i would get the english pone and with media manager, multi is almost 100MB bigger. I would get either 4.6 or 4.7 DM. I would do this. Download CrackMem 3.0.exe, BlackBerry Master Control Program 0.9.0.7.paf.exe these will help you remove what you dont want installed, you just uncheck the box of what you dont want. Then download and install 4.5.0.99 and reboot your PC. When your back up open your DM and plug in your berry, if you dont get prompted to update then just go through Applicaito Loader and choose either option, if you choose Update Application make sure to choose Details/Advanced which will show you all of whats getting installed. Then go throug the list and uncheck stuff you dont want or need ie Help etc... Then just let it do its ting from there. PM if you need help.

Try plugging your phone to the computer.. taking out the battery and putting it back in all while still plugged up to the computer, It should then recognize your phone..

I tried it and still nothing Any other suggestions? I didn't think it would be this difficult to have my berry connect to the desktop let alone backing up my data.

Go to blackberrys site and download the drivers needed. You can find that in the same drop down you found your DM link and OS

I am becoming very frustrated with this Desktop Manager. I have gone to the Blackberry website and I do not see a list for drivers. Should I reboot my Curve again? I was looking forward to upgrading my Curve, but now I am just at my wits end Thank you for helping me out with this by the way

Have you installed the OS onto your PC and deleted the vendor.xml
    file.

what have you downloaded? There are no drivers to download, you do have to download and actually install your devise OS onto your computer before you can upgrade your BB

No, I was told to download the latest Desktop Manager version, back up my data and then download the 4.5 os to my pc. Did I do something wrong?

You might have to reboot your computer. I've run into that few times and I've had to reboot my computer to get it to recognize it.

Yes. You apparently have no OS installed on your PC which is why
nothing is working. Download this and follow the instructions in Post #1

I rebooted my computer and still nothing. Should I uninstall the Desktop Manager and reinstall it? I don't know what else to do. This one thing is keeping me from upgrading.

Ok, let's just confirm, what you have done so far and what is not working..
Have you been able to do a backup of your BB, or does it not see it?
    Or
Have you done the backup and when you plug it in, it doesn't say anything about an upgrade?
You should be able to use the link that amazinglygraceless posted and double click on it. You will have to actually install it to your computer, with desktop manager not running, before you plug in your BB and do the upgrade on your phone.

All I have done so far is download the latest Desktop Manager version so I can back up my data before I download the 4.5 os on my computer. I printed the directions which are listed in the sticky and I thought I was following the instructions to a t. Is it possible that the os that is on my 8310 is not compatible with the new desktop? I am grabbing at straws now

I am following the instructions. I thought you are suppose to download the latest desktop manager so that you can back up the data and then proceed to download the 4.5 upgrade.
