You can restore it from the back up, or a recent back up you did independantly with DM.

No, that's the problem, is that I didn't do a back up before..cause my friend who did it before me, did it, and he got back everything once it was done..And I know it backed it up during the update, and I tried looking for the file using the DM, but I couldn't find it..do you know where that file may be?

open up your dm and find out where the destination file is for your backups and it should be there. if not it ain there.

It goes straight to "My Documents", doesn't give specified file.

look for a .IPD file. It should have the date the back up was done

FYI for future as well, before updating run a full backup anyway. Cannot hurt in case this happens again. If it is not found then you maybe SOL. Sorry

Also backup at least once a week anyway. Has saved me countless times

Yep. that's what SOL means (sort of).

Having a regular backup schedule is invaluable in times like this.

how long have you had the blackberry?
if you have an old phone with some of the contacts on it you can at least get those back. just take it to you local cell store and they should be able to load them back to the blackberry. what everyone else has said is worth its weight in gold. ALWAYS back up your stuff at least once a week. do it right before you hit the bed at night and you shouldnt have any issues in the future.
