Found the problem. Google mobile app was keeping the memory locked. After uninstalling and resetting the handset: 1727915 bytes free.

    Thanks all.
Glad you got it straightened out

Actually...1727915 is low isn't it? Shouldn't there be another digit?

Have you done an Alt+Back key to see what apps are running?

You should only see the 5 native apps running in device memory.

Call log, Browser, Home Screen, Messages. Only 4 apps running and all default.

Open your media app and press menu and select Explore/Device Memory and see if you have any media stored other than the preloaded ringtones.

JoeyMoose: I'm not with Metro PCS, I'm with Tmobile. I removed that lame BB messenger app a long time ago for other reasons.

About memory leak, for some odd reason yesterday while i was downloading the .282 and cursing my bold along the way I rebooted it after I added 1 new application (CaptureIt - so that I can post my database sizes and memory into this leaking thread) I ended up with 25MB to begin with which gradually decreases to 13.7MB and gets steady. This is with 2 open apps (at intervals) of which are Google Latitude and MSN.....before I use to open these 2 24-7 and it was ok, now...not so anymore......And I have no idea what I did aside from installing 1 more application and cursing it......

Now I will go back to using it 24-7 again and let see if it goes back to being mad again!!
