    i have a blackberry curve 8310 and i live in israel. i have pelephone service and supposedly im not able to use it beacause pelehone doesnt service phones they dont sell. but all other carriers work. is ther something that can be done. its factory unlocked. the phone reads my sim, but i just cant make calls. help!!

    what about trying a different carrier. Or maybe a prepaid sim card and see if that works for you. Does that carrier even have the BB service books?

    I'm going to take a stab at this and say that you probably need a quad-band GSM world phone like a Storm, or Bold, as the 8310 has only the dual US frequency radio.

    I'm sure if I am wrong, someone will correct me shortly.

    Yep, just did a Google search on GSM frequencies for Israel (900/1800) and US (850/1900).

    The 8310 does not have the quad-band GSM radio, it only has the 850/1900 MHZ US frequency radio in it.
