I used to be able to go to "connect" and it would take me to google where I could enter a search. Now it takes me to a page where it tells me to sign in with a username and password for a google account. What up with that? HELP!!!

That sounds like iGoogle, the personalized verision for mobile devices.

Cookies have a limited life time, two weeks is typical. Every two weeks you will have to repeat the login process.
