if I replace the housing could you really tell that it was an abused phone?

on ebay lots of people are selling their curves for well over 200, but the used looking curves go for much less.... the way I see it is if the screen isnt cracked and I purchase a new housing it would be a good as new....

    is this not the case?

You would void any warranty or I believe anyway someone could get insurance on the phone by doing so. I personally would rather get a banged up curve then one that someone changed the housing on and didn't tell me.

It depends on what device was exposed to -moisture , extreme heat or cold do major damage that cant be seen.. Beat up device housing is your hint that some of those bad elements may have been in play.

I thought of doing the same, buying a cosmetically less-than-perfect phone, since I was going to change out the housing anyway.

But I ended up buying an immaculate Curve off someone here on CB, for $160.
