    I am having a similar problem here. I have been talking with Pete. When I tried to update using DM it erased everything and then started loading the software. After about 5 mins it goes to the restart part on my 8120 bb and then it fails to reconnect to the JVM. Now the screen has a battery on it with a red line. Nothing else! umm...

    The hourglass is still spinning..I even took out the battery a couple times and it still went directly back to the hourglass screen when I put the battery back in.
    Do not take the battery out or in any way interrupt the process. Put the battery back in and JUST BE PATIENT!

    You almost had it, it is not unusual for a new OS to take 30 minutes of "hour glass" before it actually starts.

    You will likely have to repeat the Application Loader process, one more time.

    Alright, I'll just leave it laying on my desk for a while. I'm going to dinner in a bit, will be back later to give an update.

    thanks =]

    During the time everything was loading, I didn't have my SIM card in the phone. I just took the battery out to put the card back in and now my phone is "hourglassing" again, But hopefully not for long.

    No, a couple of minutes and it will be back up. It is not a good idea to pull the battery whilst it is still loading.

    It is a good idea to pull the battery about once a week. It forces the phone to re-organize it's memory.

    You also need to keep and eye on the memory. Go to Options, Status and check the File Free number. Divide this by a million and make sure that the number you get is more than 12. 15 is better.

    Below 12 strange things start to happen. Call logs disapear as to SMS messages as thephone tries to keep enough memory for what it needs to do.

    as you have discovered, it's worth hanging around here. Ya'll get good support.

    Ok it's working again. I lost all my contacts though. Is that normal? Not a big deal to me, just wondering *Edit* Contacts copied. setup wizard took care of that.

    Pete, thanks for the tip. This place is great !

    Two ways to get your contacts back.

    1). Use Desktop Manager to do a Restore.
    2). Synchronize with Outlook.

    I would suggest using JL_CMDR as I find it works better than anything.

    JAyden, Nina has her phone back. It works now. She just has to resore her contacts.
