I bought a refurbished BB Curve off ebay (AT&T model) and right now I am trying to start it up for the first time. I referred to the Getting Started Guide and inserted my microSD card and my AT&T SIM card, then put the battery in. As soon as I installed the battery, the phone turned on, and an hourglass icon appeared on a white screen. The hourglass spun for several minutes, and then an error screen popped up "JVM Error 102" with an option to "reset". I clicked Reset, but this just makes my phone go through the same cycle. I would really appreciate any help. I am a first time BB user and am completely lost. I really hope there isn't something wrong with my phone.

*Edit* I tried removing the SIM card and microSD just to see if anything different would happen, but I am getting the same error.

Yup and then follow the advice in Chaz's link. And make sure the OS is installed on the computer you are working from.

I connected my BB to the computer, but the software says "Disabled". It's not acknowledging that the BB is connected.

Ok, I am following the directions on the link that Chaz posted, and I am currently at Application Loader. I am at the screen where it says "Application Name". Underneath that it says" The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

Thanks, it's halfway done downloading now. What should I do with it once the download is complete? Just bring it into the Application Loader?

Click the exe to install, once its done
    go to C:\programs\common files\reasearch in motion\apploader and delete a file called "vendor.xml"

Do this before connecting your BB to load the OS.

Pete, I saw and downloaded that and have actually used it on 2 BB in my office.
I was just trying to keep it simple for our frazzled little newbie (No offense Nina )

And BTW my friends call me Ken. I'd like you to.
