I've been trying to tackle this issue with an ATT 8310 for months now, and having no luck. This unit was given to me by a co-worker as it was used quite hard by their teenage daughter and I replaced the keypad and trackball along with some of the other parts in an attempt to make it usable. Now it looks great, but I have one quirk that I can't tackle.

I've tried numerous software builds and wipes while attempting to address this trouble and working barebones, but to no avail. Some are worse than others with this issue. Often I can reproduce the trouble by placing a call and not long after the call has ended, the LCD goes black (backlight off) and LED goes red like it's rebooting, only that several seconds later it comes back to the point I last was on the device. I could have been in the middle of navigating a menu, this happens while browsing or just trolling through the menus, etc., and it returns to the point I was last. The only other condition, however, is that the radio is resetting by going "OFF" and then has to reconnect to the network and search for a carrier, etc.

In an attempt to decipher what's causing this, I used BBSAK to read the event log after I had just finished a call to 611 for about 5 seconds or so and hung up and locked the keyboard (first command you see below) and watch the rest unfold:

I'd still like to know what "app:System data:Fast Reset" is all about, and what triggers it and what it's doing and how to stop that or fix that trouble. I'm hoping someone has a suggestion or has experience with this.

Thanks in advance for the help!

No change. Seems that, unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be a problem once I shut off the radio, which is useless obviously. Very frustrating...
