I set up an email account but when i try to compose an email its still telling me that there are no message services configured. what should i do?

Log onto BIS and resend your service books.

Try a battery pull. Pull it out for 30 seconds and put it back in.

how do i do a battery pull? when i press the silver button down only the little piece beneath it will come off, the bigger piece of the back doesn't budge.

Welcome to CB.

Press the silver button with your right thumb and slide the back off with your left thumb. This forces your fingers to support the phone screen and keyboard. The back can be a bit stiff at first but it will come off.

Check out 101 Demonstrator for the BlackBerry� 8320� Smartphone. it shows you how to remove the battery cover except that the cover slides off towards the top of the phone.
