OK, I am wondering if it is possible to setup email that as default goes to POP3 and change it to IMAP. It is not Gmail. This is through my internet provider. The lag between the mailbox and the BB is too long. I searched and all I found was Gmail.

What about setting up the settings myself? Has anybody done this?

Check your ISP's website. There should be an e-mail setup FAQ, and instructions for configuring your account to support IMAP if it doesn't already.

OK thanks. It seems that Cox is only POP3 and doesn't work with IMAP.

Ok, I'm curious. What's the difference between POP3 and IMAP? And what is the norm? I don't remember seeing a choice for this.

POP is for incoming mail only. Outgoing mail is through SMTP. There is no sync (reconciliation) when you delete a message from your handheld; the original copy stays on your mail server.

IMAP is a 2-way protocol, so wireless reconciliation is possible. My Gmail is set up for IMAP, so when I choose "Delete on handheld and mailbox," the message is deleted in both places.

Most webmail and ISP services default to POP.
