Okay, had the phone for 2 mnths now I am currently running O.S. v4.2.2.180, I went to T-mobile store and was told to go to T-MO UPGRADE SITE. I went to the site however I keep getting sent to the view phones page after I select download Device Manager or Handheld software - weird. So I use the disk that the T-mobile salesperson graciously gave to me (no I didn't have one with the phone - long story) so I downloaded DM - but it keeps saying Disconnected. I go to Connections and select Detect but I repeatedly get an error message that the Device is not found. I have tried more than one USB cord, also a battery removal, and I don't know what else to do. PLEASE HELP, and since I'm new please go easy on me with the BB lingo..
Thanks... I'm by my computer waiting for help...

Here could u do a favor? Do u know how to do screen shots??? Connect your blackberry to the computer, make sure not to select Mass Storage Mode (It prompts you on the BB), then open up your device manager, (diff on vista and XP, expand the usb section, if ur BB is connected it should look like this- if it doesn't, (Doesn't have Blackberry Smartphone) with it still open, press alt+ print screen, then open paint and press ctrl+v, and post that picture.
Im thinking the drivers aren't installed.

If you have desktop manager you should have the drivers. They are a part of the desktop manager install. I would follow AG's advice and reboot the pc.

No need to post that picture. Does it have blackberry smartphone in the usb controller? If not I suggest going to blackberry.com and getting desktop manager 4.6 without media manager.

    Link for desktop manager. https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
    Get 4.6 without media manager.
Link for the OS upgrade from Tmobile .Unsupported Browser select your device and get software. It is 4.5.0.81 that they have. I just tried the link and it should allow you to download it.

I think you are on the right track now.

The BlackBerry Software Tools CD contains an older and less capable version of BlackBerry Application Manager. If you do install it, you will be prompted to upgrade it to the current version.

rlp32 has posted the links you will need and a good recommendation to use the v4.6 Desktop Managers.

Once you have that installed, we can further troubleshoot your connection problems.

You have not mentioned which computer you are using, Windows XP/Vista will be needed. It does not work on a Macintosh.

Thanks for all your help - Im loving crackberry!! Okay yes I am using Windows XP. I did update the desktop manager on my pc so it looks like the picture in the Blackberry 101 - How to upgrade/install... However, it is still showing disconnected with the blackberry plugged into the computer by USB. It looks like my pin number for the blackberry should appear at the bottom left corner. UGH! I can't do anything until I get the DM connected... please help!
