    This just started today...

I go to sync and then I get that irritating message that says:
Blackberry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. You can either send the error report, don't send or debug. I have tried all 3 a million times. I have gone to the blackberry site and tried their fixes. NOTHING. I have upgraded my desktop manager and NOTHING... HELP!!

    Thank you!

What is the version of the DM and what version of windows are you running. Have you rebooted the PC and tried again?

You need to clear your cache on your pc and restart it. Then you should be ok.

Actually, you are probably better off getting rid of DM 4.7 and getting 4.6. Alot of people have had problems with DM 4.7 and the 83XX Curves.

You can clear temp files on Windows XP by going to My computer> Local Disk> Temp and open the file and edit> select all > delete then close it. You can also clean out temp files by going to My computer> Local Disk> Documents and Settings> Your name or all users > see hidden files> Local Settings> Temp Folder> Open> Select all> Delete; close folder empty recycle bin and restart pc.

I would also remove DM 4.7 at the same time using the Add/Remove in your control panel; then empty recycle bin and restart computer. Then download and install DM 4.6.

My advice would be to remove 4.7 and get 4.6 DM then install it and reboot the PC. Should be fine after that...

Do exactly what what Trem said, get rid of DM 4.7; reboot then install DM 4.6.

Ok I have now tried that and it won't sync at all. The new DM comes up and just stalls.

Did you uninstall 4.7 before installing 4.6? If not, uninstall both DM's, reboot your PC, then reinstall 4.6 and reboot again. If you did, try the same procedure for 4.6.

I'm learning here too, but what I have read, go "without" media manager.

I agree. I used MM once and decided to stick with Media Sync and drag and drop.

I don't think that fixed it. It is still doing the same thing. When I sync it it just says working. You can see the little phone in the bottom icon tray with a green flashing light but nothing is happening... UGH I am SOOOO frustrated!!!

When you connect your BB to your PC, do you get the safely remove hardware icon in the system tray, and if you have an SD card installed, can you browse to it with Windows Explorer?

Yes I have the icon and what is SD card?

Media card for your BB. If you get the icon that at least means that Windows recognizes your device.

Now, have you tried doing a back up?

I really have no clue... I just have the stuff that came with the phone. I have AT&T so I have a SIM card. And I have no clue how to back up... So no I haven't done that... I am clueless when it comes to this stuff. I am so frustrated that I am ready to throw this out the window. I have now been messing with this thing for 2 days!!

    Okay, deep breath.

To back up your BB, connect your BB to your PC. Start DM. Click on Backup/Restore. Under Backup, Click Backup and see your BB backs up to your PC.
