Just upgraded my OS from .170 to .194

Advantage: I gained extra memory (~ 5 MB)

    Disadvantage:
    * I lost the delete option on email.

I have 2 questions, hope someone could help me out

    1. deleting email on OS4.2.2.194
when asking for delete confirmation, is the email deleted on handheld (BB)only,or mailbox and handheld(BB)?

    2. how can I get the Delete option v.170 back on the .194?

on .170, every time I press delete it always ask :
    Handheld,
    Mailbox and Handheld,
    Cancel.

On the .194, I don't have this option anymore.
    It just ask:
    Delete
    Cancel

    On Option=> Email Reconciliation:
    the available selections are:
    Handheld,
    Mailbox and Handheld
    Prompt

My understanding is , if I choose:
Handheld, It will always automatically delete on Handheld only,
Mailbox and Handheld, it will always automatically delete on both,
Prompt, ==> will ask for confirmation, but where? BB or Both?

    For example:
I have 2 new emails sent to my Yahoo acct.( A and B)
After reading both, I want to delete A from my BB only ( but leave it in my mailbox), while B ,I want to delete on Both ( Mailbox and BB)

    How do I do that?

Go to 'Messages' then Click the menu key and scroll to Options. In here go to 'Email Reconciliation'

    Change the 'Delete On:' Option

The setting you you mentioned should be set to PROMPT. It will allow you to choose the device, both, or cancel.

I have the Email Reconciliation on Prompt, but when I pressed the "Del" button,
    instead of asking
    Handheld
    Mailbox and Handheld
    Cancel

The option that I got :
    Delete
    Cancel

I have 'Prompt' on, but I usually delete from both and chose "Mailbox and Handheld"
    Unfortunately,

It did not solve my problem,

I already set " Delete On" : Prompt, but I still don't have the option deleting "Handheld" or "Mailbox and Handheld" on the email.
It still give me : Delete or Cancel.

    Any ideas?

I figured this one out (if you have multiple accounts)...

When you are in the email reconciliation option, you will notice that an email is listed at the top, make sure the email you want to apply changes to is selected. Select prompt as the "delete on" option, hit the menu key, and save the changes. I was having the same problem and it fixed it for me!

Did you get the Handheld, Mailbox and Handheld, Cancel selection?

I tried that and it still give me the same option ( Delete or Cancel).

My problem is, I delete my emails mostly based on the contents, not strictly based on the email account.
For my work emails, about 75% of time I do delete on handheld, as I "can't" delete the actual business emails in my mailbox for possible legal reason and archives.
The rest is junk/product announcements/ promotions/ discounts etc that I could just delete from mailbox after I read it in my BB.

And the opposite for my personal emails ( about 60% both, and ~40% handheld)

So setting it up based on email acct is very inconvenient.

The original Delete options ( OS.170) allow me to do this, while the OS.194 took it away from me

After 2 days with with no solution,

suddenly and unexpectedly the delete option showed up by itself.

when my BB woke up this morning, the delete option is now available again,

Weird, but I am glad that it finally shows up.

But now, the email notification tones is not working. I don't get any email notification tones anymore.

But I guessed I just have to wait a few days and hopefully it will take care itself.

Are you sure your BB isn't possessed?

Lol that's odd...I was constantly trying to get this to work and then I realized that I hadn't saved the setting I changed (by hitting the menu key). Glad it all worked out for you haha.
