Default Curve will not format memory card?

Hello, everyone. My Mom needs some help with her memory card. Upon inserting it into the BB Curve the Curve isn't recognizing it. I go to media card options and set all the prompts correctly, and ask it to format card, and it says, "Media Card Format Failed". I tried pulling the battery, removing the card and reinstalling it, and I'm getting the same problem. When I power the Curve back up, I don't get any "memory card detected" prompt. I go to Options>Media Card>> I select media card support on, encryption mode none, Mass storage mode support on, Auto enable mass stage mode when connected, prompt. At the bottom it says, "Media card cannot be read, verify that the memory card is formatted. When I try to format, it says it failed. I think she said at one time it worked but now it isn't. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you!!

If you have an adapter (or card reader) that can connect to the computer's USB
try formatting it on the PC and then putting it back into the BB.

I was having a problem with mine accepting the mass storage mode.

Works fine in my pc with an adapter plugged into a card reader then finally now wouldn't even format, kept getting the format failed when I tried to do it with the BB and would just get a note saying card not formatted or something similar then when I tried to format I got the format failed error.

I bought a new memory 2gb card at Blockbuster for $12.99. Everything is perfect now.

I guess I must just be lucky....and believe me...that is rare.

With my first BB...which died from a two cycle washing machine washing....I put in a 4 gig card and it read it right away...no formating,

With my replacement BB, I upgraded to 4.5 ( for the 8320) and and put in an 8 gig card and it read it right away too.....no formating.

What the heck am I doing right?

My brand new 2gb I just bought today worked fine with no formatting as well.

I still ran the format though just to be safe.

It's always good to format any new memory card to to any device.

Even when I buy a new card for a camera I always put it in the camera and format the card with the camera.
