My curve is showing the "charging" icon when it's plugged in to a wall or my computer, but the battery does not seem to be charging. The phone was plugged in over night while I slept, then this afternoon I noticed it was down to 50%. Now I've had it plugged in for about an hour and it shows the charge at 35%. Do I need a new battery? Or has anyone seen this before?
Yes. I had exactly the same thing happen with my day old Pearl.
I took it back to carrier and the service rep checked it with a fresh battery to be sure it wasn't a problem in the device. Next, she re-installed my original battery and we left it to charge while I shopped or new toys.
An hour late, there was life in the battery.
I suspect the action of removing and replacing the battery restored a connection between the four Gold contact springs and the Gold patches on the battery.
Try a battery pull. Inspect the contacts for contamination and clean them with a pink rubber eraser to be sure they are making a good connection.
