I think it's supposed to do that. If it's idle it dims.

I have a brand new 8330 and when I do a hard reset my keyboard light doesn't come on after reset completes until I power it down and then turn it back on then the keyboard light works again. Anyone else experience this?

To be sure: I am not talking about dimming all the way to dark. I have my backlight on 100 and auto dim is off, and every once in a while my phone gets very bright and then back to "normal" again, almost like it's at 80 on backlight, jumps to 100, and then back again.

If I understand the auto-dim function, when it is set to on it, it changes the screen brightness when going from different lighting situations (i.e. indoors to bright outdoors) to make the screen readable. Turning off auto dim would prevent this from happening.

If you would read the entire post you would realize that this is happening to those of us who have turned auto dim off. And it has been saved in that fashion. The BB still at times dims itself and stays dim until you either move the trackball or some other function. It can be really annoying when you are trying to read something when this happens. The whole point of turning off auto dim is so that this does not happen.

    1) I read every post in this thread.
    2) The explanation i gave was so others would understand that futzing with the auto-dim would not solve their problem.
It is designed to do ONLY what I stated in my earlier post. Nothing more.
    3) I have the same problem, and have learned to live with it.
