Unhappy Curve 8330 Media Card (SIM) hinge came loose

I just got a Curve and was trying to replace the included media card with my larger mini SD card with music, photos etc. Well, I had a rough time getting the hinge open. It was apparently stuck and I did get it to swing open but I tried to insert the card flat rather than sticking it into the slot (not very well detailed in instructions) and the door proceeded to come off, I tried valiantly to get it reinserted but to no avail. I finally just lined up the card with the pins, stuck in the battery and it recognized it, but I want the use of the hinge as I know I'll pull the battery out someday and bye-bye card. Is there a way to reinsert the hinge easily, these 59 year old eyes can barely discern the little pins on either end of the hinge and no idea where there corresponding holes are. I don't think I physically damaged the hinge itself. Any help would be appreciated particularly pictorially. Thanks.

Mine fell off because I did the same thing you did, and just put it down flat and pushed down. I actually came here back in Dec 07 when I first got my BB to figure out how to "correctly" put the microSD card in. You didn't break it, as long as the hinges are the same. Take your sim card out, just so you can see better. I would suggest lining up the little bump on the side closest to the SIM card first--then try to latch it over. There's really no good way to do it, it took me over 10 minutes to get it back on and even then I think it was pure luck.

Worst case scenario, bring it back to your cell phone carrier and have them do it.

I had the same issue, although I thankfully didn't damage my hinge. I'd say take to your carrier and have them do it if you can't see it. RIM should really update their manuals on how to place the cards...
