Got my curve 8310 about a week ago. It worked fine at first, but a day later the trackball started acting up.

Scrolling works fine, but sometimes (more than not) I have to push the trackball in REAL hard to select something. The weird thing is that sometimes it's real bad and sometimes you just have to give it a little more of a push. But I can no longer just tap the ball like I've been able to on other blackberrys. Real freakin annoying.

I've cleaned under the trackball on the inside with a qtip and rubbing alcohol. It helped for a day or so, but it just went back to it's old ways there after. I've already tried replacing my trackball to no avail. Worst of all, I got my phone off craigslist so I don't think RIM will let me return it even though it's almost new.

    Has anyone had this problem?

I'm not sure how the trackball connects to the board, but it sounds like the connection is bad in there somewhere past the trackball. I'm not sure what you would do for this besides having it repaired somewhere.

Try this. With your fingernail gently pry up the silver bezel. Pay
attention to how the clips are oriented so you can put it back
    correctly.

Turn the BB over and give it a gentle tap to pop out the trackball.

Now with a QTip or something with a blunt tip press the contact
that sits beneath the trackball. If it functions the t/ball is dirty
or bad. If it does not then the contact itself is bad.
