Is it possible to Create a Home Screen Shortcut to a website? I am using a Curve 8330M from Sprint.

I installed this and setup shortcut 1, however, whenever I click on it, it goes to a screen that says downloading icon and stays there forever.

You don't have a good link in the icon entry spot. You need an http:// link to a pic hosting site such as Photobucket etc. Upload an icon you want to a hosting site, then enter the link into the host utility. Then it should download it quickly and from then on, that'll be your icon for that given website.
