Because once the card is formatted, you cannot utilize all 8Gb
    *EDIT* : 7.6Gb is normal!!

Its the same deal if you buy a new HD for your computer, the box it comes in may say 250GB but once formatted and In use may only say 245GB total.(Or less)

The problem is, to the guys selling the card, they measure gigabytes in by the 1000 megabyte mark. So 8GB = 8000MB. Whereas computers/blackberrys read a gigabyte as 1024 megabytes, so it reads in a bit lower. Added to the fact the blackberry actually does the math in kilobytes, so its 1000000kb to a gigabyte for marketing, and 1048576 (1024 * 1024) kb to a gigabyte to the computer

    8000000 / 1000000 = 8
8000000 / 1048576 = 7.62ish, plus overheard and rounding errors and such and you get 7.6 gigabytes. That's totally normal.
