I presently have a Curve but will be upgrading to a Bold shortly. Once I upgrade I want to be able to give my curve to my stepson to use as a cell phone and mp3 player. After I upgrade to the Bold can I still plug my Curve into my laptop only to transfer music to the 8 gig memory card only for my stepson. I don't want it to hot sync or do anything else, because everything will be hot synching with my Bold.

I do not believe you have to do anything to set up. Desktop manager keeps track of BB's by PIN #.... should not be a problem at all.

jut plug in the curve and if it asks you to enable mass sorage mode say yes. then go to my computer and youll see it in devices with removable storage. No desktop manager required.

Check out the bottom of the screen shot of the DM, does your show at the bottom Active Device and Connected Device?
