Hi there, I'm on an 8330 with Telus. Almost 2 weeks that I've had my Blackberry with no problems except I can't install the Google maps app. I go to the m.google.com/maps site and when I click "Install" it comes up with

    "HTTP Error 403: Forbidden
You are not authorized to view this page etc."

Any ideas? Also, is there any difference in functionality or anything from the Maps app that comes with the phone and Google maps?

Try pointing to Google Maps. Be sure you use the BB Browser, not opera mini, and that it's emulating blackberry.

The maps app that comes with the blackberry is BBMaps. It's most significant advantage over Google Maps is that its maps rotate, so you have the option of Route Up. Google Maps are much more detailed, and generally nicer looking, but don't rotate, so you only get North up.
