Just wondering....on my previous cell phones, the screen would automatically light up when I received an incoming text. Is there a way to make this happen on the Curve?

I know that on my Pearl, there is no way to do that. But there is the little red message indicator

No. Only a phone call will wake the device up. However, there is a 3rd party app floating around, I believe, that will do this. Do some digging.

Wow.....you guys are fast at responding! I've seen the app you're talking about, but it says it's not compatible with 8330. It's only $5 and I'm tempted to give it a try anyway just to see if it really will work.

If it says it's not compatible, don't waste your money. This would be like trying the colour trackball app on anything other than an 8100 - it just won't work. You'll get used to this. Trust me.

I downloaded bblight and I still can't get it ti come out of standby when I recv SMS from standby mode. ii think i have the settings wrong. I don't use a holster. i press the mute button to go into standby mode. The LED will flash, vibrate, ring tone, everything, however, it stays in standby and i nned to press the mute button to "wake" it up before i can see the text. The instructions on the bblight home page are kinda confusing, how do I set to come out of standby when I get SMS?

SMS Display on is your app. If you want your email to do it to i saw something on here called Email display on...or something like that.

I still can't get the BBLight to work. I'm testing BBLight now.
1. Activated on Startup is checked
2. On user activity is also checked


There's not many options for this program and its not clear how to set this up for backlight activation by SMS.

For people having problems with bblight not working with sms and emails make sure you have the latest version. I am using 1.86 beta and it works flawlessly. There is a link somewhere in these forums with an ota link and desktop download link.
