Just bought an unlocked Blackberry Curve 8320. I was hoping to buy a T-Mobile Sim card and then prepaid, pay as you go minute cards. Will texting work like normal with this? Like using parts of minutes to send or receive? And, will I be able to us my home wifi network or other personal home wifi networks without purchasing a data plan? I had heard from some people on this forum that you could. That would be great! If it wouldn't work, would I be able to make calls, etc, using my prepaid minutes and then pay $20/month for a data plan to be able to get wifi?

From what I understand, they won't allow you to do this. Particularly the data plan w/o the calling plan part..

I think your best bet would be to look into a Flexpay account with TMO. You can keep your price down and it works like a prepay.

Youll need a text msg package if you want to text without huge charges.

Tmobile I think will let you not have a data plan due to the wifi, verizon i know is one where you HAVE to have a dataplan with the BB..

Honestly, tmobile has reasonable plans.. I think youd get what you want on a plan at about the same price as you would buying prepaid minutes etc..

Actually, scratch that first thought about huge charges with text, I dont think it would even let you if you just have a prepaid for minutes.

Well, my friend got an unlocked Razr and did the 1000 minute deal for $100 from TMobile, and he can text for parts of minutes deducted. So, maybe it'll work for Blackberry the same. Idk
$100 seems like a lot for only 1000 minutes.

Yeah, but it's the truth! It also includes 1 yr of phone service. It's not $100/month, it's $100 for 1yr of service and 1000 minutes you can use during that time.
