Unfortunately, you won't be able to switch the sound off on the shutter. It's a feature of the BB camera.
BerryAnnoying will make it very quiet but not switch the sound off. When I mean "very quiet", you will hear it if you are in a room with no background noise.

The utility is $3.95 and well worth the money to keep the *&^#$) handset quiet...

There's an app called Peek-A-Boo. Google it and you should be able to find it. This app will turn the shutter sound off

Go to berryreview.com and search peek-a-boo and that will bring up an OTA link

very few phones have an option to disable the shutter sound, my guess is because of privacy issues and what not.

You can only shoot 4 photo's w/ peek a boo without sound? Seems to be a waste to install just for 4 pictures, or is it 4 pictures each time u open it. Can anyone confirm?

It's pure oversight by RIM. Every Treo can be turned off by one action. And for that matter all of my other phones come stock with the ability to mute the camera sound. But we can always buy a 3rd party app to mute it.

sLpfhaWK....You can take more than 4 pics at any time without sound. I've had Peek-A-Boo on my phone for about 5 months and I get picture happy and take lots of pics at any given time. Don't know why they say that, but I've always been able to take more then 4 at a time

Here is another thread about this issue:
    Muting the Camera Shutter

As one member found out BerryAnnoying does not work on all models.
