I thought I read somewhere that I could, but I can't figure it out. I downloaded the gmail app and a second one related to that one, but I can't seem to find any gchat function.

Also, my BB messenger works fine.

I thought Google chat came pre-installed in the 83xx series. Check if you have an IM folder.

I just visited Google Mobile on my phone, and cannot find a download link for it, but it is on my phone.

Not pre-installed, but Curve 8330 usually has a pushed icon to go to the download page.

OP, you can download it easily from Appworld. Google doesn't seem to carry the links anymore.
