Try a battery reset- with the device powered on remove the battery for about 15 seconds and put it back in

Then this might be an OS corruption issue. Make sure your info is backed up or syncd to your computer. you might have to wipe the device. Keep in mind if you do this and restire from a backup, you might bring the problem back.
