i just got a free curve from one of my friends and i just noticed that the camera does not work. When i go to the camera the screen is all black and doesn't show anything. I get no error messages either and I have done a hard reset and even upgraded the OS to .124 with no luck. Has anyone else ran into this problem before? or know how to fix the camera to get it to work?

Well if you've already done a hard reset and upgraded the OS I think the next step is resetting it to factory defaults Options>Security Options>General Settings>hit menu button>Wipe Handheld. But you may want to wait for others to verify this before you try it. There are other people on here with far more experience than I.

Or it could be a hardware issue. did your friend tell you of any problems with the phone.. And was the camera working before.?

If you already upgraded OS and your still having the same issue like tae suggested there could have been a problem with it before you.
