I am new to the BB and can't seem to get on the internet. When I click my browser, it brings up applications from Verizon only. There is no "go to" link or anything else that will let me navigate to any webpage.

Please help!!!

you have to press your menu button, to the left of the trackball to bring it up.

Yes, I have done that, get the browser icon and click it. When it opens, there are just Verizon apps and news, sports, weather, get apps, vz nav, mobile IM, etc... no blank URL to search from.
