A friend of mine somehow managed to brick his phone. He has no idea how, just ran out of juice a few days ago and wouldnt start anymore...

He doesnt know a thing about BB software so he brought me the phone to have a go at it since i can at least find my way updating my Bold's OS .. so lets begin the story

behavior : blinking red light, when i try to turn it on i get the hourglass for 1 sec and then blank screen
battery seem to recharge ok

first try: the usuals
BDM 6.0.1, latest official orange os 4.5 ,apploader
-BDM finds the phone's PIN but warning message about phone software error, press update ... does nothing
-apploader sees the phone PIN, asks for password, ****, does nothing .. i press Next and Next just becomes grayed out again .. but the damn 10 tries counter doesnt go down .. i wish it would so i can reset the damn thing, nothing important on it anyway

second try: more advanced
BBSAK, JL, Crackmem, Crackutil, BMCP
none of them can do anything to the phone .. nojvm, resettofactory .. nothing works

third try: BDM 4.7, RFI
same thing, BDM sees the PIN but cant connect, get stuck at conecting to ARM
damn RFI wont start on my win7 x64

what else can i try ?

when BDM asks for the password it says :
