So I got my Blackberry Curve a few days ago(it's my first phone), I have done some fooling around with it, and have finally got the hang of everything.

I downloaded the newest OS version, 4.2.2.194, and Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2, now when I try to update, it runs through everything just fine, but when it gets to "Read Device System Configuration"(I did configure everything, the minute I took the phone out of the box) I get the following message:
    "Device communications error encountered. [A:0x00000022]"

I did some Googling, and while I couldn't find much of anything concerning this problem, I did find something that told me to do this.

    1. Open the Control Panel by clicking Start>Settings>Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel, double-click System.
    3. Select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
    4. In the Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    5. Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties.
    6. Select the Power Management tab and clear Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    7. Repeat steps five and six for other entries named USB Root Hub

I did that, and still nothing.

Anyway, I'd really appreciate any help given, thanks for your time,
    Alexander.

Btw, I posted this originally in the 3rd party software forum, I realized it was in the wrong forum, so I'm re-posting this.

Two things initially come to mind to ask. Have you tried rebooting your computer? Have you tried a battery pull for your phone? With your phone on, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then put it back in.

Well I tried both those, and still the problem occurs.

What exactly does the error message mean? How can I fix it? Do I need tp update my DM from 4.2 SP2, to 4.3? Is there a newer update available from 4.2.2.194?

    Sorry about all these questions.

Btw, my current BB software is 4.2.2.170

I found similar problem with my 8320. I Am really confused with this problem. Maybe OS update is denied by carrier...? In my case with ORANGE...

I also did steps required in point 1 in this thread.
Desktop Manager is in last version offered by BlackBerry exactly for my carrier (ORANGE).
    PC has been restarted.
BB has been restarted (by bat. remove).

    And problem is still here...

I downloaded the newest OS version, 4.2.2.194, and Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2,
You need to download Desktop manager 4.3 or later. 4.5 is out now.

If you're upgrading, dumb question, but did you delete the vendor.alx file?

Uninstalled the desktop manager and removed all files and registry entries of Research in Motion. Installed the 4.5 version of the desktop manager (90Mb download), and it worked. Hope this helps.
