Default Best way to charge new 8330?

Hey guys just got a new Curve the other day and was wondering the best way to charge it.

Do I let it run down all the way and then charge overnight? Or is there a better way? I'd like to make this battery last as long as possible.

    Thanks!

BlackBerries prefer to be "topped off", don't let the battery run down all the way. I would get the OEM cradle charger made by BlackBerry. It is not expensive, looks very cool and knows when to stop charging after your battery is at 100%...

I agree to the cradle comment- I have mine beside my bed so it's easy to pop in there at the end of the day- usually your battery won't run down to complete uselessness just off one day's use- I usually get through the day with about 80% battery unless I've been taking a ton of calls.

    Default Charge

I just charged it up until it was full and then used it. I charge it as much as it can but reality is it will sometimes go down to nearly empty.

Yes, Li-Ion's don't like to be drained all the way down, but a new battery in a couple years isn't going to break my bank.

With my laptop, I actually drain the battery down to 40% every week or so because it's not good to have Li-Ion stay at near full voltage (4.2V) continuously.

I try to charge my 8330 overnight, every night, but that's not always the case.

Agreed. I don't let my BB get below 50%. I have wall and car adapters, as well as a spare USB cable. I try to keep my BB as fully charged as possible.

Does charging all night have a bad effect on the battery? Should I turn it off at night?

Charging it overnight, no matter how it is done will not harm the
battery. There is an internal smart chip prevents overcharging.
You don't have to turn it off to charge it.

Also the cradle that SevereDeceit mentioned can be purchased at
most T-Mobile retail stores for $7

It is not listed on T-Mobiles website, but most retail store carry them.

Here is another good question, kind of dumb as well. But will a USB charger be just as fine like your home charger for when you need to charge up your phone on the go at work or laptop? I hope it does not harm the battery on it. Also, I thought car chargers were bad for cells?

USB will work. I prefer the BB charger, but will use USB if needed. I have car charger, but rarely use it.

That is what I thought. Thought the USB charger makes good use for all your photos and music addons in a snap for your pc. Just didn't think the car charger would not be great.

I have never come close to draining the battery on my curve. Even after a good day of texting, browsing the web, talking on the phone. I just can't do it! That's one of the reasons I love this phone. I'm an ex WinMo user so I know how bad it sucks when your phone needs charged by 5 in the afternoon!

Anyone have a silicone skin that uses this charging pod? Does the skin have to be removed?

I use a stick on skin and do need to peel it up to use my little dock, . So needless to say, I often use the USB. I plug in every night and unplug and go in the morning. I do try to be careful with the USB because the ports are fragile.

So I'm going to presume that the silicone skins would have to be pulled off from what I've read a few minutes ago from a search on the web. That kind of sucks...would be a pain to do every night.

I purchased a black silicone skin from Verizon for my 8330 and do not have to peel anything back to charge.
