i have a clear hard plastic case for mine that snaps on and covers the screen. i wish i would have gotten it sooner, but i actually got it from the tmobile store and its by Speck and it was $9.99
If you need something in a hurry fellowes makes cut to fit write overs you can get at wal mart by the ipod aisle and they are decent they have been helping me and my wife not ruin screens for about 6 months and they come big enough for any phone with cutting grids for no guessing sizing!!!

I used a glare free screen protector on my Treo from BoxWave and never had any problems with it at all. I might get a clear one for my Cruve, but, I might just leave it totally naked. I haven't decided on the screen protector, but I haven't used a case for my Treo in about a year and I never had any problems keeping it like that.
I've tried both invisibleSHIELD and also the ones from BodyGuardz, both seem to hold up quite well, BodyGuardz is a little bit cheaper (came with 2 sets of screen protectors and also they give discount for repeated customers) but I really like the squeegee that came with invisibleSHIELD. LOL
Other than that I think it's just a matter of preferences and of course, the prices. Haven't tried BSE yet.. that'll be next.
I have used both Invisible Shield and BSE and they are essentially the same thing. The Invisible Shield lifetime warranty DID come in handy though when I had to replace my iPod touch. But, this is just a 2 x 2 inch screen, so i think BSE is a safe bet, bc i doubt anything disastrous will happen to it where you have to buy a new one.
