Media card capacity is determined by your OS, and in some cases, by some carriers. the following is th OS capacities.

    MicroSDHC ONLY

BlackBerry Device Software version Media card size limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB

To find out what OS you have, go to Options>About. Or go to an entry field and type myver and hit spacebar, it will do this. 8330/4.5.0.131

The devices use microSD or microSDHC cards. Make sure you are looking at the correct type, the standard SD/SDHC cards are too large.

    Good sources are Amazon

    Newegg.com - ProductList

SanDisk, Kingston, Transcend, A-data, and Patriot are well-known brands.

They all seem to come with adapters. What is that about?

Adapters allow you to transfer files to and from your computer, or allow you to use the micro card in a device that uses the SDHC format.

As long as it is a micro SDHC card, you can take up to 16GB with your OS. Better prices online, though.PNY cards are fine, my wife has one in her Pearl.

My 8gb class 6 Transcend cost me $18.50 total from Amazon.com.

If you are going to buy a memory card, do buy it online.
I purchased my 8GBone off ebay, for maybe $20? Forgot the price.
But I was VERY mad, that I had originally purchased a 2GB card from the Verizon store when I first got my phone, for MORE then my 8GB.
Cheaper for the better card? That's the way to go!

I got a Sandisk 8GB for about $20. Most 16GB ones were 2-3 times that which I didn't think was worth it...unless you really need the space right now.

I buy all my sd and micro sd cards on ebay it takes about a week to get them but they are really cheep. Just bought a 8gb class6 for $18 works great in my vzw curve 8330 formated at 7.5gb. Just be smart check the sellers rating and watch the final price including shipping. Some will list a really low price for th card and have a high shipping cost. Mine was free shipping.

I bought the Transcend 8g...I have read some posts on formatting and some say format on the phone and some suggest formatting on the computer.

Please let me know what you think and I would appreciate any other tips you might have on installing using the new card. it will be here in a couple of days so I am getting prepared.
