My carrier is Rogers (in Canada). I really don't need push mail but Id like the option of being able to pull gmail and browse occasionally. Is it possible to browse (w/opera mini?) without a bb data plan? Can I browse with the Rogers $10 for 10Mb plan? That would be great. Any ideas?

From what I understood, that's what it does, allows ONLY browsing the internet, i.e. no email, etc. Hopefully someone else will be along shortly to confirm this...

Browsing is good in that it would allow me to pull all my various email accounts thru gmail.

Navilyn, when i spoke with my carrier they told me that an internet browsing data plan would not work with a blackberry. You have any idea if this is true or not???

With vodafone, I wasn't able to browse with a data plan (gprs and/or 3g) from my Blackberry 7290 and 8800...

The APN settings were correct, but no luck..

From my understanding, most carriers don't allow you to have a voice plan on a BlackBerry without a data plan.

T-Mobile allows voice and no data for BB users as well

If you get the 15$ a month email plan from rogers you can use the workarounds to get Opera Mini for free. + you get you email pushed to you if you want. + if you have wifi you can use the workaround to get Windows Live Search for free and use the GPS maps feature for free
