I recently purchased an used BB 8310 as a backup. I have been running it about a week and have 4 different episodes where it locked up and once where I could not get it to power up (got a white screen with hourglass for 5 mins). I also keep losing my EDGE connection and have to perform a soft reset to regain my internet connection.

Would wiping the device and starting over be a good idea? I have never tried wiping and restoring but I'll try almost anything once...

Sounds more like a memory issue. What's your file free? Options > Status. If below 15 search for the memory opt and follow it.

Every time I check the memory it is hovering around 19.

Just to add to the problems, I did a batt pull and could not get the device to power back up. I hooked up the USB cord and viola, it booted. However, when I pulled the USB out, the dang thing powered off and would not reboot until I hooked up the cord again. This thing is possessed!
