Appointments in Calender Don't Ring to Remind Me (Curve 8310)

Ugh,

To say I miss my Bold 9000 is a huge understatement. It died last week. Luckily (after the week I've had maybe I need to rethink the work "luckily") I had my original Blackberry stored away and am using that til RIM decides to release the Bold Touch 9900 I'm waiting for. For me there's no comparison between the two phones.

When I type in a new appointment into my Calender app it shows on the Calender but it never sounds to remind me. I get a "The reminder cannot be set because its time has passed. Is this okay?" UH IT HASN'T PASSED! I have tried everything I can to get it to work and now I'm starting to wonder that backing up my Calender from my Bold was somehow a mistake. Is there anywhere I can download the Calender alone all on its own?

I'm at wits end. I'm panicked that I'll have to wait til Sept or Oct to get my new Blackberry. Please help
