I was just at my local Alltel store. I asked them about the curve and they said they couldn't tell me that " their Rep is currently carrying one on the alltel network to test out and check for bugs and that it is rumored to be out "soon"". Now we all know that Alltel's soon is about a year away, but wouldn't it be nice if it wasn't.
I think most of the larger CDMA carriers (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel) are testing the Curve on their networks. But they could just be blowing smoke like alot of them do.
The Alltel rep on the phone said they are going to try to release it before sprint or verizon. I have heard that the release date for the sprint curve is suppose to be around the 16th of April and that the verizon curve is May 14th. He said that he had heard from quite a few people in the office that Alltel's would be at the end of this month. Here's hoping!

I converted all our corporate phones from Alltel to AT&T due to their reluctance in getting new phones. They have always been behind the Blackberry rollouts!

I just left our Alltel store, where I was told that the Curves would be in before end of this month.
Alltel commercial rep says available by May 1. He gave me the specs, 50% more memory, compressed download for faster screen refresh. Other features that the GSM phones do not have. They had their official webinar today.
So i officially hate alltel. I say that without really meaning it because I get fantastic service and the price is right. I get a call from a friend of mine who works for them and he tells me that the original date for the curve was suppose to be the first, but he got an email today saying that it may be getting pushed back to May 20th now. Why does a company that has great service take soooooo long to get new phones?
Because Alltel is not as large as Sprint,VZW meaning they can't buck up the coin to be the pay for any sort of exclusivity deals or anything like that, they don't buy in mass quantity such as the others...at the end of the day, having good service does not get you good phones...having fat cash does!!
