Is there a way to have a simulated version of my blackberry on my computer? My keyboard broke when I went snowboarding and there were a bunch of texts and bbms that I was unable to read. I am going to get a new phone but I wanted access to my unread texts and bbm before I file a claim through insurance.

The best way to accomplish the exchange is with BlackBerry Desktop Manger, Switch Device wizard.

It will read the content of your current BlackBerry then allow you to connect a new device and restore all of your content to the new device.

Purging the data before you return it can be done with Advanced Restore. Select each of the data subsets and delete them to insure your privacy.

This requires me to have 2 phones though right? I dont have my other phone since i didnt file a claim with insurance.
