    I have a friend who has a Curve 8830 who keeps losing his signal, he's reinstalled the OS, updated the reinstalled version and pretty much tried everything including service books, etc. and nothing has helped. He goes to send a text or a call, and there will be 3 bars and then when it's dialing it goes to an X with no signal. This has happened in 2 very separate locations (one in VA, the other in miami, fl) He is using U.S Cellular.

    Any suggestions or posts that have had this happen? (searched and couldn't find)

    You don't mention updating the PRL. To update the PRL on Verizon, you dial *22899. I don't know what the code is for USCellular, but it might be the same. Updating the PRL could help the dropouts.

    The 8830 is not a Curve.
