I am trying to download the update for a 8330m but I need to back up the information that is on the phone (most importantly the phonebook). Can someone give me some guidance on what to do?

Download and install BlackBerry Desktop Manager onto your computer.

Then connect your BlackBerry to the same computer and use the Backup function.
