I can't find out how or if I can even do this. Can I change an option somewhere where after a certain amount of time has passed, old messages will be deleted? The email I don't mind because I have some emails that are years old that need to be saved for reference, but the sms text messages, I am just too lazy to delete them one by one and looking for an easier way to do it?

You can also hit the shift key to highlight messages you want to delete as well as delete by date. I use delete prior mainly - works great.
