My 8330 when rebboted gets to the home screen and goes black (once timed out) It will receive calls but I cant answer or ignore them.The track ball works but thats it , I cant do anything else ,its like its frozen.

It's always good to try the ole "battery pull" before anything else with these things

All black ,no buttons work.The only time I see the screen is when it first boots up after the battery pull.The track ball moves but nothing else.

wipe it. same happened to me. wipe and reload the OS. only effective solution imo

So wait a minute, when you say the "trackball" moves, do you mean the cursor on screen? Like do you need a cursor and a black screen? Did this just start happening? Did you get the phone from somewhere? Did you install any software recently?
