Thumbs down 8330 charging problem

Okay...I'm using a Curve 8330 I got from a friend. When she gave it to me, it was charged and working perfectly, but she lost her charger. I used it until the battery ran out.

The other day, I picked up a cord for it, but it acts strange when I try to charge it. The bolt logo thing shows and it seems to be charging for a while...when all of a sudden the whole phone turns itself on and shows an hourglass for a while, then goes into the Sprint screen and shuts itself down due to low battery. This apparently drains the little bit of charge it gets from the short time it shows the charge screen. Taking it off the USB when it starts the behavior doesn't stop it, and even taking the battery out has proved useless, as it continues as soon as it goes back in.

Has anyone else had this problem? Also, what are the pins supposed to look like on the phone's charger port? Is it normal for the middle one to be raised slightly? Thanks...

No it's normally not raised. Apparently the USB cable you used was a misfit and it damaged the charging port. Try getting an original BlackBerry charger and see if it works/ or to make things economical Battery Charger fr Blackberry curve 8300 8310 8330 8350 | eBay. Else you would need to buy a charger and even then if the port is damaged you still would need to get it replaced. These chargers do not rely on the port thing and you need to insert the battery inside them and charge it. Although not very convenient but does work.

The best way ever to charge your 8330 is with a charging pod. This eliminates the mess with plugging and unplugging the USB all the time.
