I never gave this a thought before, until I spent a week in an area with marginal reception. It seems that my internet service is more consistent than my telephone service.

My question is, is the 8330 signal reception omnidirectional, or is there a specific way to orient it to receive the strongest signal?

The little bars don't give me much information. Also, I couldn't find an app that shows a cell towers signal strength.

I don't think the antenna is directional enough to make much of a difference, but here is your "app" for seeing your available signal strength in numbers (dBm), which is a better indication than "bars".

    antenna is not usually directional.

however you can see signal strength and compare by moving the phone.
Process: Hold "Alt" and press "N", "M", "L", "L" (repeat to reverse the effect).
